To get full credit, you answer(s) must total 150 words: explain the three ways of transferring energy, pick a system and describe its boundary. Answers: the three ways in which energy can be transferred are conduction, convection, and radiation. Conduction mostly happens between two solid objects and it transfers energy from hotter objects to cooler objects molecule to molecule. Convection on the other hand, is the transfer of energy by large scale displacement of groups of molecules. As the water molecules heat up, they have higher kinetic energy which makes them farther apart and more displaced. Lastly, radiation is transfer of energy through space and can travel through materials1: a system is a set of inter connected entities that are part of an integral whole. Using a biological example, the human body is a system itself, with many subsystems.
