Barriers to women"s advancements: masculine/patriarchal corporate culture, general norms and cultural practices, lack of childcare facilities, lack of adequate parental leave and benefits, inadequate labour laws and regulations. Part-time, temporary, and contractual labour = under-employed, over-worked, and under-valued. Caregivers are more likely to be women (as of 2007), most are fulltime and employed and married. Most are providing for aging parents or in-laws. The number of elderly people is on the rise. This falls onto women caregivers mostly men do the maintenance and outdoor work. Sandwich generation : women who are at a certain age where they"re raising their children and parents.
