Settlement colonialism: a kind of colonization where the goal is to establish roots in a foreign country. These roots can be trading posts, communities and later, full edged governments. Internal colonization: a condition of oppression or subordination, often of one ethnic group over another. A term used to describe the distinct separation of the dominant core, from the periphery in an empire. Neo-colonialism: using capitalism, business globalization and cultural imperialism to gain or maintain power over a country or group. Cultural imperialism: a series of binary oppositions employed to at once de ne and represent the colonized subjects and the colonizing masters. Invasion colonialism: a type of colonialism where the goal is to take resources like gold and people to the motherland .
