ESET-212 Lecture 12: ESET212-routine procedure
Document Summary
It is performed after the shift has been taken over and the plant is operating at the required capacity. Low and high water conditions occur from boiler failure, control failure, or operator error. Low water fuel cut-offs secure the fuel to the burner. Alarms or low and high water whistles provide a stationary engineer with a warning against low or high water conditions. The extent of overheating or damage caused by low and high water conditions is determined by how quickly a stationary engineer reacts to correct the condition that exists. Any time water is not visible in the gauge glass, a low water condition exists. By taking immediate corrective action, excessive boiler damage can be prevented. The correct method for handling a low water condition in a boiler varies with the boiler type and fuel used. When in doubt about the water level in a boiler, always secure the fires immediately.
