Jealousy: jealousy requires a social triangle, someone (anika) perceives that another person (rimsha) is threatening his relationship with another (beatrice): She may also fear or actually experience his rejection. She is motivated to engage in behaviour that will protect his relationship: this hold for romantic/sexual relationships, as well as other important relationships (e. g. , sibling jealousy in relation to parents), specific or blended emotion, specific emotion: Primitive or core jealousy occurs if a loved one is perceived as paying attention to a potential rival (i. e. there is a primary appraisal of threat; e. g. , Anika sees a threat bea paying attention to rimsha): Jealousy evolved as a distinct emotion in natural selection. Minimal cognition is required (i. e. your reaction is quick). Cognitive processing may not be conscious (i. e. anika gets to the bottom line very quickly; the processing/going through the steps is not conscious but the end result is)
