EDPS 200 Lecture 7: Chapter 7 Behavioral Views of Learning Lecture and Textbook Notes
Document Summary
Learning occurs when experience causes a change in a persons knowledge or behav. Does not include maturation or temporary conditions like hunger or illness. Behaviour theorists emphasize the role of environmental stimuli and focus on obs responses (behaviours) Whenever two or more sensations occur together often enough, they w associated. Later, when one sensation occurs, the other will be remembered as we related to classical conditioning. Focuses on learning of involuntary emotional or physiological response fear, increased muscle tension, salvation or sweating. Neutral stimulus is paired w/ a stimulus that evokes an emotional or ph response. Eventually, neutral stimulus becomes a conditioned stimulus leading to conditioned response. We learn to behave in certain ways as we operate on the environment. Consequences of the behaviours we engage in i. e. if you study really hard for an exam, and you do well. The nex take you will again study really hard.
