Rapid developments of gross motor (large muscle) and fine motor skills. Not a lot of difference between girls and boys. Girls are often ahead of boys in height and weight. Are more likely to engage in delinquent behaviour. Provides opportunities for students to practice problem solving and cooperation and to release tension. Increase in childhood obesity is linked to inactivity. Less than one-third of ppl w/ eating disorders receive treatment. These systems not influenced each other, but also work together to influence and be influenced by the individual. Controlling; often do not allow children agency; not abusive, but not openly affectionate. Clear limitations/expectations and clearly enforced rules, but also affectionate. In european and n. american middle class families. Children of authoritative parents are more likely to be happy w/ themselves and relate well to others.
