The process by which ppl act and react in relation to others. Any relatively stable pattern of social behaviour used to make sense of everyday situations and frame ppl"s lives. Ppl can hold more than one status and there is no limit of the amount of status. All the status held at one time i. e. a teenage girl, daughter to parents, sister to brother, student, a goalie. A social position a person receives @ birth or assumes involuntary later in life. A social position a person assumes voluntarily that reflects ability and effort. A status that has special importance for social identity, often shaping a person"s entire life. Behaviour expected of someone who holds a particular status. A number of roles attached to a single status i. e. a professors role includes being a teacher, colleague and researcher. Role are about what you do and statuses are about what you are.
