The study of interacions between organisms and their environment. Diferent behaviours: dominance relaionship, reproducive interacions, cooperaion. Interacions are between groups, individuals or within groups. Evoluion: natural selecion will favour traits that increase itness and try to keep those in the populaion and select against those that will decrease itness. If the beneits outweigh the risks that are associated with it (individual behaviour) Inclusive itness: an individual"s survival and reproducion and the survival and reproducion of all its relaives. Kin selecion: when a selless acion is taken to ensure the survival of one"s kin to pass one"s own genes. Altruism: when individuals act counter to their own beneit in the interest of the beterment of the group (ex. an alarm call used in belding"s ground squirrels) How relaionships are changed by living in groups. Shown through: cooperaive feeding, defense of the group, restricted reproducive opportuniies, exchange of resources, assistance.
