Document Summary

Transformer conditions: full load condition only series form. No parallel load: no load condition no series load. There are two types of tests used to determine req, xeq, rc and xm. They are: short circuit test, open circuit test. Step 1: apply a short to a winding. Low voltage or high voltage but low voltage is the more preferred. Step 2: used to calculate req and xeq. Step 3: other windings is energized from a variable voltage source set to a value for i= i rated. Req = psc/i^2 (req, ohm: psc, watt: i^2, ampere) Open circuit test: leave one winding open, low voltage, high voltage (we use high voltage side for open circuit, rc and xm, energize the other winding with rated voltage, voc = v rated. Ioc: reading of the ammerter: poc: reading of the wattmeter. N = pout/pout + pcoreloss + pcopperloss * 100%
