Upper extremities: stiffly extended, adducted, and internally rotated; palms pronated. More ominous than decorticate rigidity; indicates lesion in brain stem at midbrain or upper pons decorticate rigidity- abnormal extension. Upper extremities: flexion of arm, wrist, and fingers; adduction of arm (i. e. , tight against thorax). Level of consciousness (loc)- a degree of cognitive function involving arousal mechanisms of the reticular formation of the brain. Week 11 notes & objectives(back to top) paraplegia- paralysis characterized by motor or sensory loss in the lower limbs and trunk. The sense of where your body parts are in space and in relation to each other, without your looking peripheral neuropathy- any functional or organic disorder of the peripheral nervous system. Loss of sensation involves all modalities. quadriplegia- paralysis in all four extremities reflexes- basic defence mechanisms of the nervous system.
