Drupes: superior ovary, single seed, hard endocarp, peaches, cherries, olives. True berries tomatoes, grapes & have greater than 1 seed. Pomes apple develop from the floral tube on receptacle. Mesocarp is dry at maturity: dry and split - release seeds. Only one side of the fruit splits (milkweed) follicles. Split on two side are release seeds (legume peas, beans, peanuts) Silques split on 2 sides but seeds remain on a central partition (mustard)
