Recalling new names introduced once, twice or three times is easier for younger adults than for older ones. Younger adults tend to outperform older adults in texts of recall: ex) with alzheimer"s disease, recall and recognition is extremely poor. The ability to recall new information declined during early and middle adulthood, but the ability to recognize new information did not. Younger adults do not outperform older adults in tests of recognition. Assessment dates: october 25, 26; november 2, 10, 12, 16, 22; 2004. Purpose of assessment: referred by a psychiatrist on the inpatient unit for assessment of organic brain impairment and possible alzheimer"s. Diagnosis: narrowing of the middle and anterior cerebral arteries, abnormal perfusion of both cerebral hemispheres, impairment with visual memory, below average verbal memory. Observations: pleasant, cooperative and motivated, limited range of emotional expression, had problems concentrating- asked to reschedule. Treatment plan: assessment, stabilization, pharmacological management.
