These assignments are designed to develop basic research skills and to introduce you to the literature in the eld. The marking schemes change gradually as you do more reviews. Instructions and advice are provided in section 3 after the marking schemes for each review. If you are doing reviews you may only submit one after november 20. The rest must be submitted before that date. Why do reviews: to increase your familiarity with the journal literature, which is the basic record of the progress of any discipline. Every student should be very familiar with the journals in his or her eld: to make you read journal articles. The heart of a university education is learning to read specialized material that is too di cult for you when you start: to make you summarize a discussion in the natural resource economics lit- erature.
