Burnout is a state that occurs when a person, often in a helping profession, experiences prolonged stress without learning how to cope with it. Produces physical and emotional exhaustion because of the excessive demands placed on the individual. Exhausted and depressed (loss of zest for one"s life) which will in turn affect the family and work. If burnout is long term, the individual may become susceptible to illness (ex. Ulcers) or take up drinking or taking drugs leads to irritation or anger at family members. If a person is emotionally drained, they cannot handle everyday hassles at home. Leads to fighting, squabbling, and bickering with others in the family. May escalate into serious marital and family conflict separation and divorce. Losing a job the effects of unemployment.
