Confucius (551 - 479 bce). (kong fuzi): five classics and analects, five relationships and based on hierarchy. The family is the basis of it all, and those relationships are based on hierarchy and patriarchy and can also relate to government. Confucius is trying to emphasis the positive side of nature and always trying to promote feelings of benevolence and harmony as a whole. Confucianism"s relationships always feature the eldest and the male. Hierarchy and patriarchy in the family provides structure. Ren: showing benevolence to your people as a leader and think beyond yourself. Li: showing different rituals such as ancestor worship depending on who you are. Although confucianism changes over time, the principalities remain the same. The silver rule (confucianism): "don"t do onto others as you wouldn"t want them to do onto you". The golden role (western/christianity): "do onto others as you would have them do onto yourselves".
