This would be a grand feast and then the groom takes his new bride to their new home. The bride would be assisted by her bridesmaids and take her to the bridal chamber with so the marriage is consummated and then the union was complete. Marriage provides for the continuation of the grooms family lineage an increase of population through having children. They are expected to arrive as quickly as possible. And male children were specially desired since they continue the family name and could increase power, wealth, influence of the client through any economic or political or even military ways. Life expectancy was short, which meant men died young from disease or age since husbands were usually older than their wives. Women dying a lot having childbirth at a young age. If left the way to work, men would always remarry depending on the status and wealth, and age was never really considered.
