Killed in the battle at wakefield in 1460. Command fell to his son, edward the duke of york. Edward led the yorkist army to a victory at mortimer"s cross in 1461: edward iv. He marched into london and became king edward iv. This went back to the reign of edward iii. Henry and his wife fled to scotland with their son. The yorks were well positioned to hold the throne for generations. Henry iv was captured and imprisoned in the tower of london in 1465. The yorks were happy to execute all enemies: earl of warwick. Edward iv had to deal with a new enemy. His own advisor, the earl of warwick from 1467 to 1470. He had more de facto power than the king. Warwick was able to seize power in london. Henry vi was dragged out to serve as a figurehead king. England was headed for endless instability: edward iv"s return.
