Ex hospitality is not to be extended contingent on circumstance/need: how you respond. Makes morality nonabstract: morality grounded in action on earth. Morality is not something simply to be studied but acted out/expressed. God partly as a rhetorical device: god as an analogy/ a symbol. But also, a sincere belief in god: god as manifested in our acts, doing gods work via virtue. To be insincere would violate emerson"s own goals of sincerity of genius and thought. Jesus shouldn"t be on a pedestal, he becomes a symbol, rather than inspiration for their own status of a great man. God as a subversion of fear: god is not something transcendent, external source above us, but something manifested in us. We can manifest god within us, i. e. through acts and characters. A radical critique of traditional christianity: cannot do something for said external entity i. e. forces people to claim responsibility for actions.
