Document Summary

Focus primarily on offenders and what makes them offenders. Psychological theories are based on either: assumption of an offender deficit-what are offenders lacking that law abiding citizens have in the psychological makeup, discriminating characteristics/traits-how they are different (not lacking) from those who abide by the law. Exception= community psychology: first looks at the individual. Drugs: small group(s) of which that individual is a member. Factors that they also have a correlation of the offender. Where do these small groups fit in the larger social structure, 4. and where do these larger groups fit in. What sorts of social structure factors impact the individual and turn them into an offender. Are our laws to blame for the criminalization of these criminals (appropriate laws). How we develop through infancy to adulthood: oral stage (infant), anal stage (toddlers and youngsters), phallic stage, latency stage, genital stage. If something becomes off between stages or order then that"s what creates these problems leading to issues.
