The skin is where all these frontiers come together. For the kayapo, the skin is a social feature, transforms physical and sexual reproduction into social reproduction/power. Use biological energy to create social energy. Hair is a relaly important part of this. It is long when you are a full social being. When you are mourning or children don"t have long hair. Birds are central because they have a hair like exteriority that can be plucked and can fly, giving one a bird"s eye view of all of society.
