Form: the blues form (vs blues genre/blues scale/blue note, widely used form seen in jazz, rock and roll, blues, pop, 12 bar form is the most common, 8 bar and 16 bars blues are also used. Double bass: archo with the bow, pinsichatto with the plucking fingers, rhythm section provides background to melody and soloist, bass and drums with piano. Louis armstrong-west end blues: trumpet virtuoso, long, high notes, scat singing, singing with no words. Count basie-one o"clock jump: jazz pianist, virtuoso, bandleader, walking bass, trumpet, sax, trombones, melody isn"t played until later, four bar, repeated figure, rif, brass and saxophone switch of accompanying eachother and soloing, contrasting, lester young, sax soloist. Count basie-every day i have the blues: guitar in the background, bass quarter notes, joe williams, vocalist, call and response with sax, aab form. John coltrane and milt jackson-bags and trane: minor blues, everyone plays the melody, coltrane-saxophone, double time-faster notes, jackson-vibraphone, paul chambers-bass-archo solo.
