Leader is available at all times = provides team with technical assistance to tasks. Can do it by creating detailed plans, schedules, and by emphasizing performance goals. Leader emphasizes depth of relationships between team members and culture. Can do this by encouraging cooperation, trust and appreciation amongst team members. Leader sets targets and schedules at the beginning but encourages collaboration and facilitates trust and goodwill amongst team members. Leader facilitates trust through socialization amongst team members, and later sets clear goals and monitors progress. Focus on task orientation - the task becomes the thing in common. Switch to relationship building - alignment to common purpose.
