Document Summary
Intelligence as a matter of neurological efficiency. Factor analysis - something we still use a lot. It tries to understand how our behaviour is moving/doing/behaving. - intuitive correlation -- tries to see which things go together and clusters them and then makes sense of what we see. Spearman"s g : g = general ability - accounts for overall differences in intellect s= specific abilities/ particular skills. Fluid and crystallized intelligence -- raymond cattell (not the same cattell) Fluid : mental process -- the ability to think quickly and abstractly. Crystalized : knowledge base -- education has more of an influence on this -- the accumulated wisdom, knowledge, expertise, and vocabulary. Believes in voluntary eugenics (belief and practice which aims at improving the genetic quality of the human population. ) Hired to create a test that could look at the abilities of children. Had tests were looking mostly at reasoning, understanding, and judgement (higher mental abilities; went beyond the senses).
