Scientific study of thinking and information processing: how do they acquire information, how they use it and how they misuse it. Problem solving how we make decisions. Brief review of philosophical approaches to these questions. The ontological problem: what is the real nature of mental states and processes, what medium do they take place in and how are they related. When i see the moon its because moon atoms penetrate my eyes : he says the soul is made up of smooth soul atoms and when someone dies they form new soul atoms. Plato: looked at platonic ideals (pointing to the heavens) Ideas are more than just round, physical objects. An idea exits long before an object does. Matter is secondary to ideals, the essence of that thing does not lie in that thing but rather in the ideals that precede the matter.
