Document Summary
(cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) Scientific method: a method of discovering knowledge about the natural world based on making verifiable predictions (hypothesis, testing predictions empirically, developing peer reviewed theories . Description of behavior (impartial, objective, account for systemacit influencing factors) Variables mus be carefully controlled or accounted for so we can drww reasonable conclusion. Sampling: selections of a subset of ind from within a statistical pop. Have knowledge about the pop and use an appropriate method of sampling. Probabilistic sampling: every unit in the pop has a chance of being selected in the sample. Ransom selections (ransom sampling): eache member of the pop has an equal chance of being selected. Eache subject selected independentrly of the other member of the pop. Simple random samples: a single step process where participants are ransomly selected from the pop. Stratified and cluster samples: creat mutually exclusive sub0groupes before random sampling. (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1)
