Thursday, March 29th, 2012 Love Each form will take different forms at different points in our relationships. It has been suggested that the two major classes of love that you will experience are passionate love and companionate love. If you are more than 20 years into your relationship, the more you talk to your partner, the less happy you are. In the early stages in your relationship, the more you talk, the more happy you are. This is because as time goes on, you have less to talk about that serves a function. The people who talk 20 years later are people who did not get the system straight at the beginning! Murstein’s (1986) Stimulus-Value-Role Theory He suggests that there are 3 major stages of relationships. Secure and Insecure Attachment Styles As a function of early attachment relationships, they will move into new relationships with a certain disposition. He noticed that infants formed different attachments with their parents. The attachments that they form with their parents is likely what they will carry on to their other relationships.
