Like the economy, education, and politics, also has its own department: religious studies. Sociology of religion is very different from religious studies. Religious studies: focus on the history of religions and their creeds. Basic principles of the religion: some sociologists in religious studies, so also some concern about sociological issues. Sociology: analyzes social relations, and sees religion simply as one type of social relation, how social relations affect religions, analyzes the impact of religion on social relations. There are thousands of definitions of religion out there. Durkheim: much of his work is on religion, and compare these religions. Correctly notes that religions use rituals to build unity: critique: Some claim he"s defining it based on his own sociological views (social cohesion)
