Norm: accepted standard for behaviour, usually unwritten-budding in line, Social control and scale of society: systems of social control vary depending on social scale. In small-scale, face-to-face groups, social control is less formal and more likely to be based only on norms. In large-scale societies, norms regulate daily life but so do laws; punishment for violation of laws can be serious including death. Move into particular location and consume all the resources, tend to move with the seasons. Move within seasonal changes: fairly egalitarian (equal). They don"t put value judgements as female roles as being inferior or males roles being superior: our society sees old people as disposable entities but in these communities they don"t value aging. All ages are necessary for functioning of tribes.
