Very mythological as a politician creating his own myth & making him sound better: took down the leader of the galls. Standard story: after his stand-off with the conservative factions of rome, he brought the roman legion and crossed the sacred river [the die is cast. Alea acta est]/took a chance and it payed off. => caesar became the sole dictator of rome. Caesar & cleopatra: helped her in the civil war. Cicero: read a speech detailing mark anthony"s downfalls [age, economics, etc]; compared to helen of. => mark anthony angered & cicero atop mark anthony"s kill list. No one to take the place of tiberius once he died. Wanted to marry his sister: new to romans but common in his origin places. Caligula killed; romans wondering who would rule next. Done so that the romans would not see him as a threat [survival technique] => agrippina wanted her son in power & fed claudius a poisoned mushroom.
