Increased the costs of american business: contributed to inflation, general increase in the average level of prices, reduced national output. Increased unemployment: new jobs, solar, wind, geothermal, and other renewable energy companies, slowed economic growth, us firms- less competitive than their international counterparts, stricter environmental regulations.
