Old age security and cpp are taxable. If you are low income, you will receive gis. If you are married and your spouse is older than you and they collect oas and gis and you"re between. 60-64, when you turn 65 you can qualify for gis and oas. You"re not taxed on it because you belong to the poorest income bracket. They have values and shared forms of behavior that go with them. Large groups of people living long enough to retire. Social forces: mandatory retirement rules within a workplace. We are not supposed to be forced into retirement, but, depending on the job you can. We have pensions, but not all countries do. The trend is that people will work for longer and retire later. Personal condition: illnesses, caregiving to spouses, hating your job, your partner (if they are working), you"re more likely to work. Compared to unmarried women, married women are more likely to retire earlier.
