Lumbricas pull on the distal end of the extensor tendon. Allow you to ex, abduct and adduct the thumb. Thenar is large group of muscle by the thumb. Need skin to not be too moveable. This is because super cial fascia has fascial bands that extend to periosteum of bone that create compartment containing fat, blood vessels and nerves; creates grip. Any infection within the connective tissue of the nger causes a lot of pain because the swelling has no where to go. Compresses the digital nerve that innervate the skin. Two systems of vein in the upper and lower limb.
