Document Summary

Water: water is an important substance with regard to life, but also with regard to biochemistry. It is the solvent for many reactions: our body water is approx. Polarity of water: water is polar, this lends itself to the properties that water has, anything polar will dissolve in water. It acts as a heat exchanger for something like the brain, which is an organ that generates a lot of heat: however, we do have blood, which can dissipate the heat stopping it from. In addition to our ph range being very narrow our body temperature needs to be at a fairly narrow range as well building up and damaging the organ. Electrolytes & osmolality: electrolytes are things like sodium & chloride that are normally substances in the blood that have a charge. We are talking in respect to the blood ph. H2po4 hpo42- + h+ (most common buffer combination)
