System consists of two main divisions: upper respiratory system, lower respiratory system. Upper respiratory system represents a significant portal of entry for pathogens into the body. Respiratory system infections are the most common type of infection in humans. Vitals: 140/90, hr 98, temp 38. 8, resp 25, o2 sats 92% on room air. Physical exam reveals a dullness to percussion in the right lung base, and crackles and wheezes in the same. Following signs and symptoms: increased bp, increased resp rate, low oxygen sat level, difficulty taking deep breaths, elevated heart rate, dullness to percussion in right lung, sharp pain when coughing. He is experiencing 1) fever, 2) accumulation of pus-filled mucous in his lungs and 3) productive and painful cough spasms: sharp pain scott experiences when coughing or taking a deep breath is likely due to pleuritis. When the pleura is inflamed, the patient will experience pain whenever the membrane rubs against the chest wall (deep cough or breath)
