Document Summary

Null hypothesis (opposite to what you expect) o o. Dv (output): vas numeric pain distress scale. Humans are experts at detecting patterns in the natural world. People who adopted had a worse rate of conception than people who did not adopt. No relationship between adopting and increased chance of conception. When we hear about an incidence, it leaves a strong impression, so if it ever comes up again we think its common because it comes to mind. Adopting and not conceiving doesn"t seem that special so we don"t remember it and think it happens less often. We can be blinded by the availability heuristic. Words that have k as the 3rd letter are twice as common as words that have k as the first letter. These examples, eg. k, is much more salient in our mind, easier to remember. Ease of remembering gets confused with frequent events.
