Marx was a philosopher and an activist. A lot of key marx aspects are missed (largely because of misunderstanding. Young marx was interested in alienation, later marx is interested in economics. Marx grew up in a lower-middle class family, interested in political issues (writing in a philosophical way) After age 25 he wrote communist manifesto (about overthrowing existing governments) 1848 (30 years old) publishes the communist manifesto. Marx ended up spending the remainder of his life in exile, in london. He was a philosopher, a lot of what he wrote was for the labour movement (deeply theoretical analysis of the way society worked, and the nature of truth) He was writing in a time when capitalism was very new (unstable) There was a huge financial collapse in 1858, marx worried the capitalist system was going to fail before he published his book. Marx died in 1883, while writing his book.
