Adrenal Gland Biopsies
• Not doe routiely, oly he e’e already doe a CT ad ruled out that it is’t eig
•
• Adrenal gland: yellow, they are on top of the kidneys and are kind of curving forward, sits more
anterior, perched forward
• Posterior elements of abdo cavity
• Ct vs US:
o Uless patho, it’s hard to see o US eause it’s isoehoi (sae desity as surroud
structures), ribs can impact visualization
o CT: hover over a pixel and see the HU (density), can tell the diff between
malignancy/benign tumour
• Now on decline due to CT an MRI ability to diagnose benign lesions
o lipid sensitive imaging techniques (mousing over the pixel and being able to see the
tissue characteristics)
• CT is often the modality of choice for adrenal biopsies
• Ultrasound for large masses
