Music 2f03 lecture 2 evaluating a score. Screening questions are to keep us on track. Diegesis: the world of the narrative. Score is usually music that is originally composed to accompany the film, mostly instrumental in nature, not song. Soundtrack is typically a collection of popular songs that are used within the film: some films may include music that existed before the film was made, but the decision is made to use that music as score. Because the music will rarely line up with the way the film works, so they have to rearrange (adapts) the music to fit the film called an adapted score .
