Qualities of the guardians (they need to be the right kind of people, otherwise could turn on population: these guardians will need to have particular personal qualities to perform their job well: Spiritedness (since they must be courageous, angry feisty, red up) They should be harsh with enemies, but gentle with each other and with their friends: gentleness and spiritedness can be combined, as in pedigree dogs, which are gentle with those they know. Children mustn"t hear the gods as being bad. Gods are faulty/ awed (greedy, lustful, etc. ) by nature in greed religion. Have best possible form, push the idea of gods as superior: gods must have no share in deceit or falsehood. No changing their form, gods are already perfect. Deceit isn"t characteristic of wholly good gods. Original greek religion has many gods, but plato"s thought induces monotheism- one most perfect form, all others inferior.
