Increased awareness due to movies and increased awareness. Changes in diagnostic practice and diagnostic substitution: give label asd to people who would have previously been labeled with some other label. There is a high comorbidity between asd and intellectual disability (which there is no cure, genetic, cannot be helped). Practitioners use asd as the label for intellectual disability so that they can get some form of treatment. Autistic diagnosis leads to more attention in the school system. These toxins are more prevalent in the environment than they were in previous years. The idea is that asd is correlated to the increase in toxins. There is no increased risk of autism as a result of the mmr vaccine. 4-5 times as common in boys than girls (even more so than adhd) Highest male/female ratio in normal range of cognitive function. The group that do not concurrently have a learning disability. Lowest male/female ratio in extreme low range of cognitive function.
