Document Summary

Maslow"s hierarchy of needs: physiological needs, safety needs, love and belongingness needs, esteem needs, self-actualization, goes from biological to psychological. Outside maslow"s hierarchy: cognitive needs, desire to know, understand, and solve problems, strong cognitive needs are often described as curious and inquisitive, aesthetic needs, not basic or universal in nature, involve beauty and aesthetically pleasing experiences. The development of needs: the bottom needs do not need to be completely filled, as soon as they are partly met the next need starts, takes about 6 years for final need to be met. Physiological needs: basic biological needs to survive, food, water, oxygen, almost every human needs the same things. Safety needs: freedom from harm, living in a way that bodily harm will not come to the individual, structure, order, predictability. Esteem needs: from others, from self, need to like who we are, need to be liked by others. Self-actualization: rare experience, small fraction of individuals will reach this.
