Social development and social domains: emotional, cognitive, language and motor, social development is heavily influenced by these other domains. Increase in one domain effects other domains, the reverse is also true. How important are mothers: they are important, child can also have other attachment figures. It takes a village, many people are important: kids spend a lot of time outside of the home now so secondary sources are important true. Who else studies social development: lots of fields study social development, sociologists, psychiatrists, lots of fields make valuable contributions. Theories: helped organize knowledge into a coherent account of how children develop, historically some of these grand theories are broad, they look at all aspects of development, modern theories have a more narrow focus. It wants you to satisfy the needs in rational ways: superego is the personality component that is the child"s internalization of the parents and social roles.
