What is hard about conversation: elaborate turn taking: conversations between kids, have to know when the other person is done: one thing you can do to hold the floor is to continue to speak, use cues of porosity to know when its their turn to speak, have to keep history of the conversation, knowledge about that person in your head to adjust for what they know, their level of vocabulary, loudness, speed interactive, monitoring and adjusting based on the understanding and what they respond, know stuff in textbook. Speaker can see two but listener can only see one: both aware that they have excluded information, use non egocentric: point to the heart, giving extra information: listener may point to ecluded one as they may conclude that there is an even smaller one, speaker egocentric: small heart, speakers are routinely egocentric and leads to mistakes in listeners.
