Many jews can be christians, but what distinguishes christian jews from non-christian. Jews is the belief that christ = messiah. Paul did not think he was starting a new religion, he just thought the belief in jesus as the messiah was a continuation of what was going on all along. Paul thought this was the true and divine fulfillment of what has been going on. Uknowingly and this brought disaster to the land.
