Families struggling nancially = women going into labour force (especially service sector) Women now have nancially means to leave marriage. Cause stressed in marriage from work and caring for kids. Lead to increase in single-parent families (majority headed by women and face low incomes) Second marriages have higher rates of divorce. Experience problems with adjusting (many children raised in happy blended families) Report more nancial problems (cannot pay bills, utilities moving, legal costs, debt etc. ) Research on the impact of divorce on children. Variation in how kids do when parents split up (due to resiliency)
