The most typical instance of a category ex. Often made up of a set of common attributes. Cognitive structures of one"s own schema/ characteristics ex. Expectations of someone in a role ex. Referred to as scripts, what you do/ how you act in a social event ex. in a wedding, lecture. Help us to organize and understand our complex world. Help us to focus on what is important. More accepting of information that fits into current schema. Fill in missing information that fit into pre-existing schemas.
