Children as victims of violence, crime and abuse. Kitzinger (2010) argues that constructions of childhood may perpetuate abuse. Kitzinger (2010) argues we need to understand childrens powerlessness: oppression" and liberation" rather than "vulnerability" and protection", how can we give power to children if we don"t know what powerlessness means. Childhood violence = problem of this, patriarchal society and part of the structural oppression of children caused by the existence and maintenance of that power itself. Particular constructions and deconstructions of children/childhood creates or denies access to services, laws and resources. The social psychology of children as victims of violence, abuse and crime. How can we view violence, abuse and crime: crime against children = against morals and values, we can also look at the labeling and construction of victims and villains. It is often difficult to think of children in roles of perpetrating violence and that relates to our societal constructions of children discussed earlier in the term.
