Helps you figure out how you want to work with bureaucracy and rules, and what kind of social work you want to do. There are issues with the system: but there doesn"t seem to be a good alternative right now. We have identified children as vulnerable and the responsibility of our society. We have a minimum standard of care for children: children whose parents do not provide the minimum standards of care become the responsibility of society. Children are generally seen as the property and responsibility of their parents. More next week on how oppression is threaded thru our child welfare system.
