SOCWORK 3F03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Bobo Doll Experiment, Social Learning Theory, Countertransference
Document Summary
Understanding influencing theories: systems, psychodynamic, learning, field, social exchange, narrative and constructivist. As we move through understanding these theories and their influence on groups, consider the following: Theory is how you view the world. The most predominant social work theories, especially how it is used in groups. Whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and developed through interactions of group members. Looking at the group as a whole more than the individual (less individual case work) Interested in the communication/feedback that is happening between and amongst members (subsystems) Facilitators/leaders of groups are interested in how this feedback is happening in group. Explores the communication (feedback) between members and group and environment. Considers survival (systems maintenance) and balance (equilibrium) Make a connection around balance is what reduces stress. Groups are trying to find a balance both within the group and the external world (larger systems) Integration believe there needs to be a common thread that bind group members together.
